We specialize in working with kids and families.
As parents, we naturally worry about our kids. Our first conversation with you is an opportunity to share what’s going on with your child. Are they struggling at school? Have they experienced the loss of a friendship? Is divorce or another major family change part of the equation? Does your child lose their cool, or meltdown? Are you blending your family and could use some support? Has your child recently been diagnosed with ADHD or Autism?
It’s also common for parents to tell us, “My partner and I have different parenting styles, and it’s impacting our whole family.” If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone—we’d love to help.
All of our therapists have specialized training in attachment-based play therapy. We also incorporate skill-building strategies to help children better understand, express, and manage their emotions. We work from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective, viewing neurodivergence—including ADHD, Autism, OCD, and other differences—not as something to be fixed, but as natural variations in the way humans experience and interact with the world.
Why choose Anthology Counseling?
We are play therapists first, not therapists who sometimes see kids. Children are far from mini-adults and we have the expertise, training (and playful temperaments) to support children.
We work with the entire family. Families are little microcosms, and for change to happen it must happen systemically.
We believe in resources and education! We’ve curated entire resource lists, books, podcasts and articles dedicated to childhood mental health. It’s right here!
We take insurance! We know that can be hard to come by, so call us and let’s hope we are in your network.

Kara Bailey, ACMHC - Play Therapist
Hi there. I specialize in working with children who are managing anxiety, behavioral concerns, and emotional challenges, with particular expertise in supporting young children ages 4–12. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a teacher, which gave me firsthand insight into the challenges children can face in academic settings when they need additional support. My first priority is building trust with my clients. For children, that means creating a space where they feel comfortable enough to play, explore, and be themselves. My office is thoughtfully designed with kids in mind, helping them feel safe, welcomed, and engaged from the moment they walk in.
M’Recia Seegmiller, CSW
Play Therapist and Parent Coach
Hello there, I’m M’Recia (pronounced like “Teresa” with an M). My focus is guiding parents using attachment and developmental sciences to raise their children differently than they were raised. In my work with children, I strongly believe that involving parents is the key to helping a child thrive. I utilize play, parent coaching, role play, and psycho-education. I have specific training in working with neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism etc) and would love to start working with your family.
From Our Clients
What Happens in Child Therapy?
Children are natural storytellers. Sometimes they tell those stories with words. Sometimes they tell them through play, art, imagination, movement, or the way they relate to the people around them.
Child therapy provides a space where children can safely explore big feelings, practice new skills, and make sense of difficult experiences. Sessions may involve games, creative activities, conversation, and play-based interventions designed to help children build confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience.
For Younger Children (Ages 4–8) sessions may include:
Play therapy
Art activities
Storytelling
Sand tray work
Games that build emotional awareness
Parent coaching and support
Through play, children often show us worries, frustrations, fears, and strengths they may not yet have words for.
For Older Children (Ages 9–12) sessions often blend:
Play-based interventions
Cognitive behavioral strategies
Emotional regulation skills
Problem-solving
Social skills support
Building self-confidence
Children learn practical tools while also having space to process difficult experiences and emotions.
We truly believe parents are a very important part of the process. We partner with caregivers throughout treatment, offering support, insight, and practical tools to help children thrive both inside and outside the therapy room. Our therapists often reference specific books or ideas in session. Here we've listed some of our favorites!
